LEADERSHIP FOR ENVIRONMENT AND DEVELOPMENT (LEAD) INDIA

LEAD

To carry on the Rio message, LEAD International network was created in 1991. LEAD, with its country offices in 14 locations, is an international network of professionals and organizations/institutions committed towards environmentally sustainable, socially equitable and economically viable development. These professionals are trained over a year to become LEAD fellows.

There are 2500 Fellows spread over 90 countries across the globe. LEAD India, the Indian chapter of LEAD, functions as an NGO towards building the bridges between people, professions and countries to build a sustainable world. LEAD India has a network base of about 200 professionals working in all areas of sustainable development spread out in government, academia, civil society organizations, media and industry.

Alternative Futures’ founder trustee and Director (Policy), Aditi Chadha Kapoor won the 1998 LEAD Fellowship and her LEAD research focused on rural women and natural resource management, linking environment, development and gender issues from a policy and practice perspective. She has been a member of LEAD-India Board (earlier National Steering Committee) from 2000 to 2009.
