Submission by India on the Goal of Gender Balance to UNFCCC

Gender Balance

This submission by India is an overview of the goal of gender balance in order to improve women’s participation and inform more effective climate change policy that addresses the needs of women and men equally. This first submission highlights the ongoing policies and practices with an overarching goal of women’s empowerment.  
The way forward for achieving the goals of gender balance includes a list of proposed steps and actions. Assessment of women’s vulnerability in a climate change scenario, assessment of gender-specific natural resource use patterns, recognition and strengthening of specialized skills and capacities of women and various review and monitoring mechanisms are some of the key highlights of the suggested activities.
