Mansoor Khan presenting 'The End of Growth?' - The first lecture in the series Pathways to Visionary Futures' organised by Alternative Futures on April 22, 2016 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

The first lecture in the series 'Pathways to Visionary Futures' was presented by Mansoor Khan, the author of the book ‘The Third Curve - The End of Growth as we know it’. Perpetual economic growth is an illusion, created by the profit- and speculation-driven growth of the money economy, and sustained by ever-more complex financial instruments. But the ‘real’ economy of energy, commodities and natural resources cannot grow exponentially, and neither can the money economy, as the wizards of finance and economic growth would have us believe. Mansoor Khan argues that our industrial world runs on oil in more ways than people realize. We are already beyond ‘peak oil’ and soon other natural resources will follow the same trend. Watch him talk about the impossibility of economic growth – already evident in Japan and other developed countries - in the coming years!

The lecture was held in collaboration with India Habitat Centre.
